Make sure your car tyres are at the correct pressure otherwise your fuel consumption will be affected. Remember to check the pressures if you tow a trailer, boat or caravan. Tyres need to be inflated more for towing. Remember to deflate to the non-towing pressure after your journey

Take the roof rack off your car when you don't require it. Removing it will increase the MPG dramatically

Wash the car with a bucket of water rather than the hosepipe. If you have a water butt, use that water. Do you really need to wash the car every week? Washing the windows, lights and number plates will be enough most weeks
